HB Sports launches Sri Lankan-owned cricket brand

HB Sport Ltd. successfully conducted its inaugural cricket product launch at the Mercantile Cricket Association, Colombo last week.


HB Sports Founder Hirantha Baddage did the total introduction about the quality of the cricket products and business partner of HB Sports, Jayan Jayawardena revealed about their future plans.


New Cricket Products of HB Sports were displayed during the launch ceremony. In addition, HB Sports introduced another brand, named 'OVI' specially designed for junior school cricketers. HB sports look forward to fulfilling the nation's cricket equipment requirement, and plan to open a new showroom within a few months. The head table was graced by former Sri Lanka captain Hashan Tillakaratne, Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association Secretary J.A.K. Indrajith, Commissioner-General of Examinations Sri Lanka Dias Dharmasena and Mercantile Cricket Association President Nalin Wickramasinghe.

Dates announced for Vazians Super Sixers 2023

Vazians Super Sixers Challenge Trophy 2023 is set to be held on the 26th and 27th of August at Albert F. Peiris Grounds in Wennappuwa. The event is organized by St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa and the College Old Boys Cricketers’ Association to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of St. Joseph Vaz College.


Jaya Farm and HB Sports companies are sponsoring this hard-ball six-a-side cricket tournament. 24 teams are set to compete including major schools cricket teams scattered all over the island.


A team is to consist of 8 players with 6 players taking the field in each game. A match will be played as 5 overs per side, with wides and no-balls not being re-bowled and 2 runs being given for each extra with a free hit for no balls.


The media conference about this event was held yesterday (10) at the Chamber of Commerce Auditorium, Colombo. Rev. Priyanjeeva Gunaratne, Venerable Principal of St. Joseph Vaz College Wennapuwa, Sports and Co-curricular Deputy Principal Mr. Gemunu Kumara, Master in Charge of Cricket. Mrs. S. L. Rangika, Secretary of Sri Lanka School Cricket Association Mr. Nishantha Kumara, Sri Lanka Cricket Institute Umpire Training Manager Mr. Tirone Wijewardena and Jaya Farm and HB Sports Institute Management Director Mr. Jayan Jayawardena, Captains of competing schools teams, sports teachers in participation.
